Third edition of Urbis promoted around 50 hours of debates regarding Cities and Metropolitan Regions

The third edition of the Urbis – International Fair and Congress of Cities, that started on Monday, June 14th and ends today, Friday, June 18th, promoted an ample discussion regarding the theme of “Cities and Metropolitan Regions: Strategies for Development”. Its 13 main conferences united 101 speakers in 50 hours of debates. There were also Self-Managed Conferences at the Congress and speeches and seminars within the Fair.

At the Congress, themes such as Regulatory Mark of Metropolitan Regions were discussed, the role of local governments in national development and the possible solutions to the problems found in big cities. Among the speakers were local administrative representants of 17 countries, university members and those of international organisms.

Thursday, June 17th was entirely dedicated to conferences about metropolitan policies, in the areas of health, transportation, security, urban requalification and access to water. On Friday, June 18th, the Self-Managed Conferences took place, which dealt with themes such as the relation between mobility and social exclusion, economic solidarity, administrative policies regarding time management in cities and the use of environmental indicators by municipal government.
