About the event Cities and metropolitan regions: development strategies
The main theme of Urbis 2004 is centered around the relationship between major metropolitan regions of the world and development strategies at regional, national and global levels. The development issue regains its undeniable role in international fora. At Urbis 2004, its discussion takes on a particular significance because of the UNCTAD XI Conference, to be held in conjunction with Urbis, with a focus on economic development and its several implications, particularly for poor countries. In 2004, Urbis will count on the presence of municipal and metropolitan administrators, universities, NGOs and experts from Brazil and abroad, presenting and discussing the most advanced public policies in urban management. Development is the greatest challenge in this millennium, and the cities offer their invaluable contribution for the construction of a planet with more justice and solidarity. Urbis 2004 Dates: June, 14 to 18 Time: 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. (Congress); 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. (Fair) Venue: Expo Center Norte - São Paulo, Brazil |
